Milwaukee, WI (My Sportsbook) - The Milwaukee Brewers have reportedly offered Ken Macha a three-year contract to fill their managerial opening. Macha has been the Oakland Athletics' bench coach since 1999. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that Brewers general manager Doug Melvin offered the 52-year-old Macha a three-year deal, but was waiting for an answer from another candidate. Macha, who has already interviewed with the Cubs and Mets, is expected to meet with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Milwaukee could also choose from Arizona bench coach Bob Melvin, New York Yankees third base coach Willie Randolph, Brewers' bench coach Cecil Cooper and Atlanta third base coach Ned Yost. According to Doug Melvin, it was highly unlikely that he would make an announcement before the start of the World Series, which begins on Saturday. Milwaukee is looking for a skipper after the team fired Jerry Royster following its first 100-loss season. Macha was considered a strong candidate to manage in Boston when the team changed ownership during 2002 Spring Training. But Oakland GM Billy Beane denied permission for the Red Sox to interview Macha
