Viera, FL (My Sportsbook) - Montreal Expos starting pitcher Orlando Hernandez was placed on the disabled list Wednesday with right-shoulder tendinitis. The hard-throwing righthander has been out the past 12 days, and could start throwing again next week. El Duque has not toed the rubber since he threw four innings in a win over the Cleveland Indians. Hernandez, 33, was part of a three-way deal in January involving Montreal, the New York Yankees and the White Sox that sent Expos starter Bartolo Colon to Chicago (AL). Last season with the Yankees, Hernandez went 8-5 with a 3.64 ERA in 24 appearances. In the past two years, however, he has spent three separate stints on the disabled list because of back and shoulder injuries. Hernandez was supposed to provide a solid presence at the top of the Expos' rotation along with Javier Vazquez, who is sidelined with a calf injury.
