Port St. Lucie, FL (My Sportsbook) - The New York Mets placed pitchers Pedro Astacio, Grant Roberts, and John Franco on the 15-day disabled list Friday. Both Astacio and Roberts have tendinitis in their right shoulders. Astacio's placement is retroactive to March 21st. The 33-year-old Astacio was 12-11 with a 4.79 ERA in 31 starts for the Mets last season, while Roberts appeared in 34 games and finished 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA for the Mets last year. The lefthanded Franco is still recovering from "Tommy John" surgery, which was performed on May 15, 2002. The 42-year-old Franco last pitched in 2001, appearing in 58 games for the Mets while compiling 6-2 record to go along with a 2.45 ERA. The Mets also recalled catcher Jason Phillips. |
