New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Seattle Mariners manager Lou Piniella was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount of money by Major League Baseball on Friday. Piniella will miss Friday night's game in Anaheim. The suspension was given for Piniella's actions following the bottom of the ninth inning during the Mariners/Rangers game at Safeco Field on September 18. Piniella threw and kicked his hat, kicked the infield dirt, picked up first base and heaved it down the right field line twice, after arguing a close play when Ben Davis was thrown out at first base that ended the inning. With runners at third and second, Davis hit a ball off pitcher Jay Powell's glove to second baseman Michael Young, who barely got Davis at first. Piniella had to be restrained by bench coach John McLaren from getting to first base umpire C.B. Bucknor.
