Miami, FL (My Sportsbook) - The commissioners's office suspended Philadelphia Phillies manager Larry Bowa one game on Wednesday and fined him an undisclosed amount. Bowa was suspended for his involvement during a bench-clearing episode with the Toronto Blue Jays in spring training action. Bob Watson, baseball's vice president of discipline, made the announcement. After Toronto pitcher Roy Halladay hit Jim Thome in the third inning of the game in Clearwater on March 26, Bowa hollered at the pitcher an inning later and was ejected. The commissioner's office said Bowa was penalized for "inciting" the benches to clear. The suspension starts on Thursday when the Phillies and Marlins wrap up their three-game series.
