New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - The New York Islanders were fined $25,000 on Wednesday for having a closed practice without media access. The Islanders committed the violation on Tuesday morning -- hours before they skated to a 2-2 with the New York Rangers. Apparently, a team spokesperson had told reporters that the Isles were not holding a practice session. However, the players later took the ice. New York travels to Detroit on Thursday to take on the defending champion Red Wings.
