Cleveland Cavaliers look to end a five-game losing streak on Saturday when they welcome the playoff-bound
New Orleans Hornets to Gund Arena.
Cleveland is hoping to avoid its worst mark in franchise history of 15-67 (1970-71, 1981-82).
Most recently, the Cavs suffered a 95-93 defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday.
Ricky Davis finished with 26 points and eight assists for the Cavaliers, who dropped their 18th consecutive game on the road. Zydrunas Ilgauskas contributed 18 points and 11 rebounds in defeat.
Carlos Boozer added 11 points and 10 rebounds and Milt Palacio added 10 points for Cleveland, which dropped to 3-35 on the road overall.
The Cavs have lost six of their last nine home games and are 11-26 at the Gund this season. Cleveland is 6-41 against the Eastern Conference, with a 3-20 record within the Central Division.
New Orleans currently holds the fifth position in the Eastern Conference New Orleans currently holds the fifth position in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Hornets are just one game ahead of sixth-seeded Boston and three games behind fourth-place Indiana.
The Hornets halted a two-game skid on Wednesday by posting a 106-97 victory over the New Jersey Nets.
Jamal Mashburn had 24 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead New Orleans. The Hornets' win, coupled with the Washington Wizards' loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, clinched a playoff spot for New Orleans.
George Lynch and Baron Davis each contributed 19 points and Jamaal Magloire added 17 for the Hornets. Magloire also totaled 16 boards for New Orleans.
Davis left the game late in the third quarter with a sprained knee and did not return. However, he is expected to play Saturday, while guard David Wesley (foot) will likely miss his ninth straight game.
The Hornets have lost three of their last four road games and are 16-22 away from home. New Orleans is 27-21 against the Eastern Conference, including 14-10 versus the Central.
These teams have met twice before this season, with New Orleans winning both contests.
The Hornets have captured the last four meetings overall and the past two in Cleveland.
