Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - The Chicago Cubs placed pitcher Dave Veres on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with tendinitis in his shoulder. The move is retroactive to April 15. Veres joined the Cubs as a free agent after spending the last three seasons with St. Louis. The reliever went 5-8 in 71 appearances last year with a 3.48 ERA and four saves. The 36-year-old has appeared in five contests this season and is 0-1 with a 7.94 ERA. Meanwhile, the club recalled pitcher Alan Benes from Triple-A Iowa.
