Irving, TX (My Sportsbook) - Chad Hutchinson will start at quarterback this Sunday for Dallas, replacing the ineffective Quincy Carter, who threw four interceptions in this past weekend's 9-6 overtime loss to Arizona. The Cowboys host Seattle this weekend.
Hutchinson, who played professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals as a pitcher, has yet to take a snap in an NFL regular-season contest. He played in all four preseason games this summer, throwing one touchdown pass as well as an interception.
Carter had started 15 games in his career for Dallas, including the last 13. He has a 6-9 mark as a starter and this season has completed 125-of-221 passes for 1,465 yards with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions.
On Sunday against Arizona, he was 13-of-22 for 202 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions. Carter threw for 200 yards for the sixth straight game, making him the first Dallas quarterback to achieve the feat since Troy Aikman in 1993.
It was in January of this year the Cowboys signed Hutchinson to a seven-year contract. He played football at Stanford.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Hutchinson has not played in a regular season football game since 1997, when he did the signal calling for the Cardinal.
The 25-year-old Hutchinson started 23 games for Stanford in 1996 and 1997 and completed 379-of-627 passes for 4,235 yards, with 20 touchdowns and 22 interceptions
In three appearances for St. Louis in 2001, Hutchinson had a 24.75 ERA before telling his agent Scott Boras that he wanted to pursue a career in football.
