Pittsburgh, PA (My Sportsbook) - Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Josh Fogg was placed on the disabled list Tuesday with a strained abdominal muscle. Fogg left Sunday's 8-2 win versus the Chicago Cubs after just one inning of work. Fogg surrendered a two-run homer to Sammy Sosa in the opening frame and did not return to the mound for the start of the second inning. Solomon Torres relieved the second-year pitcher. Fogg will miss at least three starts. He was originally injured April 15th while batting against the New York Mets. Last season, Fogg led NL rookies with 33 starts and 194 1/3 innings pitched while going 12-12 with a 4.35 earned run average. In a related move, the Pirates recalled pitcher Brian Meadows from Nashville. Meadows was 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA with the Triple-A club. The righthander started 11 games for Pittsburgh last season and has 37 career victories.
