(My Sportsbook) - Still in search of their second win this season, the Detroit Tigers are set to play the second of three straight against the Oakland Athletics at the Coliseum. The Tigers let a golden opportunity for victory slip away on Tuesday, as they fell to the A's by a score of 6-5 in 11 innings. Dmitri Young had a three-run homer and Omar Infante went 3-for-5 for the Tigers, who have lost eight straight games and at 1-17 have now posted the second worst start to a season in major league history. The 1988 Baltimore Orioles own the worst start as the club began the year with a 1-21 mark. Detroit hasn't posted a victory since April 12, when it defeated the Chicago White Sox. Detroit will counter Oakland's Barry Zito tonight with struggling youngster Jeremy Bonderman. Bonderman, who was called up from Single-A to start the season, has lost all three of his starts. Last time on the hill, Bonderman was tagged for 10 hits and four runs --- three earned --- over six innings versus Minnesota. Bonderman struck out four and walked one in the contest. Bonderman will be facing the A's for the first time in his career. There is little reason for optimism tonight for the Tigers, as they have lost eight straight games to Oakland. Detroit has scored only 39 runs this season, the fewest in the majors by a landslide.
