Arlington, TX (My Sportsbook) - The Texas Rangers announced on Thursday that pitcher Ismael Valdes will miss his scheduled start on Saturday against the Yankees because of tightness in his right shoulder, and he could be headed for the disabled list. Valdes, who is 2-2 with a 5.74 ERA this season, originally complained of shoulder pains against Anaheim on April 14. He was tagged for six runs, seven hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings in his start Saturday at Oakland. Rangers manager Buck Showalter said either Joaquin Benoit, Doug Davis or R.A. Dickey will start in Valdes' spot against New York. Valdes was 8-12 with a 4.18 ERA in 31 starts with the Rangers and Mariners in 2002. Valdes had a record of 80-86 with a 3.77 ERA in 255 career games for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Anaheim Angels, Rangers and Mariners coming into this year.
