Kiawah Island, SC (My Sportsbook) - PGA Tour player Jeff Gove teamed with former major league baseball players Andy Van Slyke and Doug Flynn to capture the Kiawah Island Pro-Celebrity Challenge on Monday. The trio combined for a 12-under-par 132 and won the event by one shot over the teams of Ian Leggatt, Billy Joe Tolliver and Neil Lomax as well as the threesome of Players Championship winner Craig Perks, John Congemi and former quarterback Dan Marino. Gove, Van Slyke and Flynn earned $15,000 each out of a total purse of $250,000. The event featured 28 three-man teams featuring one PGA Tour professional paired with two celebrities. Scores were determined by taking the gross best ball of two of the three players. Bo Van Pelt, Jack Marin and George Gervin came in fourth at nine-under par. Jeff Brehaut, Mike Trombley and Scott Sanderson shared sixth place with John Huston, Shane Rawley and Rollie Fingers. The teams tied at eight-under-par 136. Reigning PGA Champion Rich Beem teamed with Hall-of-Fame catcher Johnny Bench and Atlanta Braves closer John Smoltz to post a seven-under-par 137. That team tied for seventh with former Masters champion Fred Couples, John Elway and tennis great Jim Courier.
