(My Sportsbook) - Yesterday, Atlanta rolled to a 7-1 victory over Milwaukee in the rubber match of their three-game set at Turner Field. Russ Ortiz threw 8 2/3 strong innings and Chipper Jones finished with a pair of hits and three runs batted in for the winners. Ortiz (3-2) allowed one run on five hits, walked six and struck out five. Javy Lopez belted a solo homer and Rafael Furcal added two hits and scored twice for the Braves, who have won 11 of their last 13 games. Marcus Giles added three hits, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Atlanta is 10-6 at home this season and is 15-10 overall, good for a first place tie with Philadelphia and Montreal in the NL East. Ortiz came within one out of throwing the first complete game for the Braves since Kevin Millwood went the distance against the Expos in September of last season. Millwood, who was traded to the Phillies in the off-season, threw a no-hitter against San Francisco on Sunday in Philadelphia. Gary Sheffield continues to shine for Atlanta, as he is batting .311 with six home runs and 14 RBI to go along with his 22 runs scored. Atlanta is idle today and will return to action on Tuesday to begin a three- game set against the Houston Astros. Greg Maddux is slated to take the hill for the Braves.
