(My Sportsbook) - The struggling Pittsburgh Pirates are coming off a three- game sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers at PNC Park. Yesterday, the Pirates managed only two runs on nine hits in a 6-2 loss to the Dodgers. Jeff Suppan was dealt his first loss of the season for Pittsburgh. Suppan (4-1) was trying to become the first National League pitcher to pick up five wins this season. He gave up just three runs and six hits in seven innings, but Pittsburgh's offense once again came up short. Jack Wilson went 4-for-4 and Pokey Reese had three hits in the leadoff spot for the Pirates, who lost their fifth straight game. Pittsburgh finished its 12-game homestand with a 3-9 record. Reese and Wilson accounted for seven of Pittsburgh's nine hits in the contest, and the Pirates have lost 11 of their last 14 games. Pittsburgh is just 4-11 at home this season and has scored only 86 runs to date, the fewest in the National League. Although the Pirates are batting just .238 as a team, they are holding their opponents to .235. After a day of rest, Pittsburgh will be back in action on Tuesday when it sends Jeff D'Amico to the mound to open a three-game set with the Padres in San Diego.
