New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Kevin Millwood, who threw a no-hitter versus the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, was named the National League Player of the Week for the period ending April 27. Millwood struck out 10 and walked three en route to the first no-hit performance of the 2003 season. Philadelphia won the contest 1-0. It marked the ninth no-hitter in Phillies' history and just the second by a Philadelphia hurler at Veterans Stadium. Earlier in the week, Millwood led the Phillies to a 5-2 victory over Colorado by allowing just one earned run on three hits in six innings. Other players nominated for the award included Millwood's teammate Bobby Abreu, Milwaukee's Richie Sexson, Atlanta's Russ Ortiz, Houston's Tim Redding and the Cubs' Corey Patterson.
