Phoenix, AZ (My Sportsbook) - Florida Marlins pitcher A.J. Burnett was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday with inflammation in his right elbow. The move is retroactive to April 26. Burnett had been experiencing pain and inflammation and had no flexibility in his elbow following Friday's game versus the St. Louis Cardinals. According to general manager Larry Beinfest, Burnett is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews in the near future to discuss whether or not to have surgery. The 26-year-old Burnett is 0-2 with a 4.70 ERA in four starts this year. This marks the third time in less than a season that Burnett has been placed on the disabled list. Most recently, the righthander missed the first week of this year with tightness in his right forearm. The Marlins recalled right-handed pitcher Justin Wayne from Triple-A Albuquerque of the Pacific Coast League. Wayne is scheduled to start Monday night's game at Arizona.
