(My Sportsbook) - Jerry Hairston Jr. went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and three runs scored, as the Baltimore Orioles hammered the Detroit Tigers, 11-3, at Comerica Park. B.J. Surhoff stroked two hits and drove in three runs in the victory, while Melvin Mora, Jeff Conine and Brook Fordyce each added two hits for Baltimore, which took the opener of this three-game set and has won four of its last six. Jason Johnson (4-0) picked up the win for Baltimore. Johnson threw five scoreless innings and allowed just four hits to go along with a pair of strikeouts and a walk. Mora and Surhoff have seven-game hitting streaks, while Johnson's performance was even more impressive because he did not record his fourth win of the 2002 season until August 15. The Orioles outhit the Tigers 13-8, helping them improve to a solid 7-6 at home this season. Rodrigo Lopez will make his sixth start of the season today and will try to record his first victory of the year. He went six innings in his most recent outing and allowed four earned runs on seven hits while striking out three in a non-decision. The righthander led the Orioles in wins last season, as Lopez surprised the league by winning 15 games in his first major league campaign. Lopez (0-3) will be making his third career start against the Tigers today and has a record of 1-1 in his previous outings against them, with an ERA of 4.15. He has also racked up 12 strikeouts in 13 innings of action when facing Detroit.
