Tampa, FL (My Sportsbook) - Florida Marlins pitcher Mark Redman apparently suffered a broken thumb in Tuesday's game against Arizona and will likely be sidelined until at least mid-May. Redman was injured in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game trying to bunt. He remained in the contest and pitched the next two innings in a 7-5 win. The lefthander threw seven innings of three-hit shutout ball before leaving the game. He struck out five and did not walk a batter, improving to 3-2 this season with a 2.72 earned run average. Redman said the thumb swelled up overnight. The Marlins said Redman is scheduled to head back to Florida on Thursday to have his thumb examined by a specialist.
