(My Sportsbook) - In the finale of their three-game series at Fenway Park today, the Kansas City Royals will attempt to avoid a three-game sweep by the Boston Red Sox. On Wednesday, Kansas City hit three batters and committed two errors in the bottom of the ninth, allowing Boston to score three runs in the final stanza and steal a 5-4 victory. Ken Harvey singled in two runs in the top of the ninth to give the Royals a 4-2 edge, but Mike MacDougal blew his second straight save opportunity. Slated to pitch for the Royals today is Kyle Snyder, who is set to make his major league debut. The righthander was the Royals' first-round pick in the 1999 draft but has been set back by two major elbow surgeries. Snyder was 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA in five starts this season at Triple-A Omaha. The Royals, who are 1-4 on their nine-game road trip, are 7-7 away from home this season, while Boston is 9-2 at home. Kansas City is still in first place in the AL Central by 4 1/2 games despite the recent slide.
