The Dodger righthander had not allowed a first-inning run this season, but surrendered three before recording an out on Thursday. Fred McGriff had three hits for the Dodgers, who had a two-game win streak stopped and lost for only the second time in seven games. Paul Lo Duca and Shawn Green each had two hits for Los Angeles, which twice had the bases loaded late in the game and produced just one run. Kazuhisa Ishii gets the ball for the Dodgers tonight, when they open up a three-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Ishii is 2-1 with a 3.45 ERA in five starts this season. In his last outing, Ishii allowed just two runs and five hits in six innings of a 6-2 victory over the Pirates on Sunday. He also struck out two and walked three in picking up his second straight victory. Ishii is a perfect 2-0 with a 6.75 ERA in three career starts against Pittsburgh. Los Angeles outhit Philadelphia, 9-5, on Thursday, but still could only produce one run.
