(My Sportsbook) - Jim Edmonds hit the game-winning homer in the 10th inning to lift St. Louis to a 6-5 win over New York in the finale of a three-game set at Busch Stadium. Edgar Renteria went 4-for-4, while Scott Rolen drove in three runs for the Cardinals, who swept the three-game series and have now won four straight overall. Cal Eldred (2-0) worked the 10th inning for the win. Brett Tomko had a strong outing for St. Louis as he allowed just two runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings. Tomko also knocked in two runs at the plate with a double. Jason Simontacchi takes the hill for the Cardinals tonight, when they open up a three-game series with the Montreal Expos. Simontacchi is 0-1 with an 8.35 ERA in four starts this season. In his last outing, Simontacchi allowed just two runs and four hits over 6 1/3 innings of a 5-3 setback to the Florida Marlins on Saturday. He walked two and struck out none in receiving a no-decision. Simontacchi lost his only career start against the Marlins, allowing three runs and seven his over six frames. Thursday's game was the fourth time in Edmonds' career that he has ended a game with a home run. St. Louis is 7-2 in its last nine games against the Mets since the start of the 2001 season.
