Houston, TX (My Sportsbook) - The Houston Astros cut lefthander Bruce Chen on Friday after he pitched in the team's 4-3 victory over Florida earlier in the night. The Astros have 10 days to decide to trade Chen, send him to the minors or just simply release him. Chen was 0-0 with a 6.00 ERA in 11 games and 12 innings, in which he struck out eight and walked eight. Chen, who was released by the Reds on March 11, went 0-2 with a 4.31 ERA in 39 games for Cincinnati in 2002. He also pitched in one game for the Mets and 15 for the Expos, starting five games for Montreal. The 25-year-old Chen, who has also pitched for Atlanta and Philadelphia in his career, has a major league mark of 20-18 record.
