Cleveland, OH (My Sportsbook) - Texas Rangers pitcher Todd Van Poppel was activated from the 15-day disabled list prior to Saturdays's 6-5 win versus the Cleveland Indians. Van Poppel, who had been on the DL since the start of the 2003 campaign with a strained right groin, was making his first start since September 24, 2000 when he was a member of the Chicago Cubs. The righthander lasted four innings and allowed five runs -- three earned -- on five hits, while walking two and striking out a pair of batters. Meanwhile, the club also activated pitcher Jay Powell from the 15-day disabled list and optioned pitcher Rosman Garcia to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Powell (1-0) earned the win on Saturday, throwing two shutout innings of relief. Powell had been on the DL since April 18 with vertigo-like symptoms. He has pitched in five games this season. Texas also outrighted pitcher Erasmo Ramirez to Oklahoma City. The Rangers also released pitcher Rudy Seanez from his contract with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
