(My Sportsbook) - Randy Wolf tossed six-plus solid innings and added a double and a run scored as the Philadelphia Phillies downed the San Diego Padres, 3-1, at Qualcomm Stadium yesterday. Placido Polanco, Bobby Abreu and Jim Thome each drove in a run for the Phillies, who won the last two contests of the three-game set. Philadelphia has won six of its last nine games overall. Wolf (4-2) was charged with one run while allowing just two hits. He struck out six and walked three in the victory. Jose Mesa worked a perfect ninth for his ninth save of the season. Vicente Padilla takes the hill for the Phillies tonight, when they open up a three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Padilla is an even 3-3 with a 2.85 ERA in six starts this season. In his last outing, Padilla allowed four runs on just four hits in six frames of a 4-0 setback to the LA Dodgers on Wednesday. He also struck out two and walked one in receiving his second consecutive loss. Padilla has pitched 11 1/3 innings in his career against Arizona and in that time he has gone 1-0 with an ERA of 0.00. Philadelphia is 17-0 when leading after six innings this season. The Phillies are 4-3 on their current 10-game road trip, which concludes with a three-game set in Arizona.
