St. Petersburg, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Tampa Bay Devil Rays signed Mark Quinn to a minor league contract on Tuesday. Quinn is expected to report to Triple-A Durham. Quinn was released by Kansas City on March 11, then signed with the San Diego Padres and spent April at Triple-A Portland. He batted .298 with three homers and 12 RBI in 16 games at Portland before being released May 2. The 28-year-old outfielder spent parts of four seasons with the Royals from 1999-2002, hitting .282 with 45 homers and 167 RBI in 293 games. He batted .294 with 20 homers and 78 RBI as a rookie in 2000. Last season, Quinn was projected to be the Royals starting rightfielder, but he played in just 28 games because of a cracked rib and torn left hamstring. Quinn played four games this spring before experiencing a problem after trying to beat out a grounder during a March 3 contest against Seattle. An MRI revealed torn scar tissue.
