Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - The Atlanta Braves placed relief pitcher Darren Holmes on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a sore right arm. The move is retroactive to May 2. Holmes, who has been experiencing some numbness and tingling in his throwing arm, is 1-0 with a 6.23 ERA in 12 games with Atlanta this season. Tests taken Monday revealed that the problem is caused by some inflammation of a nerve in his right shoulder. The problem will not require surgery to fix. "It's a very big relief to know that there isn't anything vascular and to know that nothing in there is torn," Holmes said. The Braves recalled righthanded pitcher Joe Dawley from Triple-A Richmond to fill Holmes' roster spot. Dawley made three relief appearances with Atlanta earlier in the season and was 0-0 with a 19.80 ERA.
