(My Sportsbook) - A two-game win streak versus the
Philadelphia Phillies might give a boost of confidence to the Diamondbacks, but the team still has a long way to go if they want to get back to .500.
Danny Bautista's sacrifice fly scored Steve Finley in the bottom of the ninth inning as Arizona downed the Phillies, 6-5, in the second of a three-game series at Bank One Ballpark on Tuesday night.
Finley and Junior Spivey each had a pair of hits for the Diamondbacks, who have taken the first two games of the series, including Monday's 10-1 blowout victory.
Oscar Villarreal pitched two scoreless inning of relief to pick up the win for Arizona. Starter Andrew Good lasted five innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, three of them being home runs, while striking out only one batter.
Craig Counsell, who was the focus of a lot of attention in Monday's game after he stole a base with his team ahead by six runs, left the game with a dislocated right thumb after sliding into second base in the sixth inning. Reports are that he will be placed on the 15-day disabled list as a result of the injury.
Brandon Webb will toe the rubber today for the Diamondbacks. The righthander, who turns 24 on Friday, has yet to lose in his first year in the majors. He was recalled from Triple-A Tucson to take Randy Johnson's spot on the roster, after the Big Unit went down with a knee injury.
Webb had his second straight solid start last Friday, limiting the Braves to three hits and a run over seven frames, but the D'Backs eventually fell, 4-2 in 11 innings. Webb has allowed just six hits and a run over his two starts, a span of 14 innings.
Arizona hitters have the fifth-best average in the National League at .266 entering action on Wednesday, with Luis Gonzalez leading the way for the club with eight home runs and 20 RBI to go along with his .320 average.
The pitching staff has managed to level off its ERA to an even 4.00 overall, although that number rises slightly in games played in Arizona to 4.45.
