San Diego Padres with a win tonight at Olympic Stadium.
Montreal has registered consecutive wins on the heels of a three-game losing streak. The Expos are within 1 1/2 games of first place Atlanta in the National League East.
Vladimir Guerrero's three-run homer in the 10th inning lifted the Expos to a 12-9 victory on Wednesday. Orlando Cabrera finished with four hits, three runs scored and two runs batted in. Jose Vidro contributed three hits, including two doubles, while Brad Wilkerson posted two hits, scored twice and drove in four.
Rocky Biddle (3-1) earned the win despite blowing a two-run lead in the ninth. He allowed two runs and three hits in two innings. T.J. Tucker, Scott Stewart and Luis Ayala combined for 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief for the Expos.
Zach Day, the Expos starter, permitted six runs and five hits in five innings of work. He hadn't allowed more than three runs in six previous starts this season.
Montreal will pin its hopes on 27-year-old righthander Tomo Ohka this evening. Ohka has lost consecutive outings, including a defeat to St. Louis last week. The Japanese twirler was hammered for six hits and five runs over just 2/3 of an inning of work. He struck out one and didn't permit a walk in contest.
Ohka has been successful against the Padres in his career, going 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA. He has allowed 11 hits and two earned runs over nine innings of action versus San Diego.
The Expos have had brutal attendance during this series, mustering an average of just 5,476 per contest. On Wednesday, Montreal drew just a season-low 5,111 fans.
