Seattle, WA (My Sportsbook) - Seattle Mariners closer Kazuhiro Sasaki was activated off the 15-day disabled list on Thursday. He had been sidelined since late April with lower back soreness. The righthander pitched a scoreless inning in Thursday's 16-5 loss to the New York Yankees. He hadn't pitched in the majors since April 22. In 11 games this season, he owns a record of 1-1 with an 8.10 earned run average and has converted just four saves in eight opportunities. Sasaki worked an inning on Tuesday in a rehab start at Class-A Inland Empire. He struck out two and walked one while throwing 19 pitches. The Mariners opened a roster spot by optioning righthander Rafael Soriano to Triple-A Tacoma. Soriano had pitched four innings in three games since being recalled in late April.
