Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - The Chicago Cubs traded pitcher Alan Benes to the Texas Rangers on Friday for a player to be named later. The 31-year-old Benes, who had been designated for assignment prior to Chicago's May 5 game against Milwaukee, had a 2.16 ERA with one save in three appearances this season. The right-handed Benes spent six seasons with St. Louis before signing with the Cubs as a minor league free agent in January 2002. Benes won a career-best 13 games in 1996 for St. Louis, and is 29-25 with a 4.38 ERA for his career.
