Lausitz, German (My Sportsbook) - Rookie Sebastien Bourdais won the pole for Sunday's CART race, the German 500 at the Eurospeedway. The Frenchman earned the pole with a best lap of 37.000 seconds (196.832 m.p.h.). Bourdais earned one championship point for winning his third pole in four events this season. Bourdais also won poles at St. Petersburg and Monterrey. Starting on the front row with Bourdais is Bruno Junqueira, who posted a time of 37.211 seconds. Michel Jourdain Jr. (37.274) and Mario Haberfeld (37.392) will start in row two. Points leader Paul Tracy will start 16th in the field of 19 drivers. Tracy enjoys an 11-point edge over Junqueira (65-54). The race is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 8 a.m. (et). Before tomorrow's race, Alex Zanardi will return to the race track where he lost both legs in a horrific accident in September 2001. The two-time CART champion plans to drive 13 laps around the 2.023-mile oval in a specially prepared Reynard/Cosworth, symbolically completing the 2001 race.
