SEATTLE (AP) -Seneca Wallace's sharp passing, including a 22-yard touchdown to Deion Branch, led the Seattle Seahawks to a 10-0 lead over the Oakland Raiders after one quarter Monday night.
The Seahawks scored on their first possession after a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty on the Raiders' coaching staff at the end of a play pushed Seattle into Oakland territory.
Maurice Morris, starting again because reigning league MVP Shaun Alexander remains out with a broken foot, ran 17 yards.
Then Wallace, making his second career start because Matt Hasselbeck has a sprained knee ligament, pumped faked Fabian Washington out of position. Branch ran past Washington and under Wallace's pass in the back corner of the end zone for the touchdown.
It was the third touchdown for Branch, a former Super Bowl MVP, since Seattle acquired him in a September trade with New England.
After Oakland lost 9 yards on three plays following its league-leading 36th sack, Seattle took advantage of an uncharacteristically short punt from two-time Pro Bowl selection Shane Lechler to up its lead to 10-0. Lechler's 29-yard punt into a strong wind gave Seattle the ball at Oakland's 40. Wallace found Branch on an 18-yard pass but overthrew the well-covered Jerramy Stevens on third-and-goal. Josh Brown kicked a 20-yard field goal on the next play.
Wallace was 6-for-8 for 69 yards in the first quarter.
The Raiders had 12 net yards and allowed five sacks in the period, including ones on three consecutive plays. Backup defensive tackle Craig Terrill had the last two.
The Raiders started Corey Hulsey at left guard for the first time this season, replacing Barry Sims. Sims' streak of 68 consecutive starts ended because of an abdominal strain.
A warm, windy, soaking storm that forecasters called ``once in a decade'' for Seattle had the Qwest Field ground crew using tractors to drag and squeeze water from the synthetic grass hours before the game. Play began with the rain blowing into the stadium in sheets.
