Oakland, CA (My Sportsbook) - Jorge Posada went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and Roger Clemens earned his 298th career victory, as the New York Yankees posted a 5-2 win over the Oakland Athletics at the Coliseum.

Bernie Williams added three hits with a homer and two runs batted in for the Yankees, who bounced back from a 7-2 loss in Friday's series-opener to win for the third time in four games.

Eric Byrnes and Miguel Tejada each had two hits for Oakland, while Mark Johnson and Erubiel Durazo drove in runs. The Athletics had a two-game win streak stopped and lost for only the second time in their last seven games.

Clemens outdueled Oakland starter Barry Zito in a rematch of last Sunday's contest at Yankee Stadium. Zito got the better of that game in a 2-0 Oakland triumph.

Saturday's victory snapped a personal two-game losing streak for Clemens, who can earn his 300th win in his old home of Fenway Park later this month. He is slated to pitch next Friday against Texas, then make his following start in Boston.

Clemens (5-2) limited Oakland to one run on six hits in 6 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out five.

Mariano Rivera worked the ninth for his third save.

Zito (5-3), who threw eight shutout innings last Sunday, was not nearly as impressive this time out. He was tagged for four runs on five hits, including two homers, with four walks and seven strikeouts in six innings.

The Yankees took a 1-0 lead when Williams led off the fourth with a drive over the left field wall for his seventh homer.

Posada's three-run blast in the fifth made it 4-0. Erick Almonte drew a one- out walk and Todd Zeile walked with two away before Posada drilled a pitch over the wall in left-center for his ninth homer.

The Athletics, who stranded two runners in the third and one in the fifth, put together a two-out threat in the sixth. Eric Chavez singled and raced to third on a base hit by Tejada, but Durazo struck out to end the inning.

The Yankees tacked on another run in the seventh against Oakland reliever Chad Bradford. Posada doubled off the wrist of a diving Chavez at third with two outs and scored on a single by Williams.

Oakland finally reached Clemens for a run in the home seventh. Byrnes doubled into the left field corner with one out and took third on a single by Chris Singleton. Johnson then barely beat the relay on a potential double-play grounder, scoring Byrnes to make it a 5-1 game. Mark Ellis followed with a walk, ending the day for Clemens, and Sterling Hitchcock got Scott Hatteberg on a pop up to end the inning.

Durazo added an RBI single in the eighth for the final margin.

The Yankees were without first baseman Jason Giambi, who was scratched from the lineup because of inflammation in his left eye. Posada took his spot in the batting order.

Zito fell to 22-3 in his last 33 starts at home. Chavez left the game with an injured left wrist.

New York's Bubba Trammell was robbed of a homer on a leaping catch by Byrnes in the sixth inning. New York's Hideki Matsui went 0-for-3 with a pair of walks and saw his 10-game hitting streak come to an end.
