(My Sportsbook) - Ron Gant, Miguel Tejada and Eric Byrnes homered to power the Oakland Athletics to a 5-2 victory over the New York Yankees in the finale of a three-game series at the Coliseum on Sunday. Mark Mulder pitched eight strong innings to win his fifth consecutive start, as Oakland took two of three from New York for the second straight weekend. Mulder (6-1) limited the Yankees to three hits and two runs with two walks and eight strikeouts. He had gone the distance in his previous three starts and has surrendered just five runs and 20 hits over 42 innings in his last five outings. Keith Foulke worked the ninth inning for his 10th save of the season, allowing just one hit. Oakland has won 15 straight home series, dating back to last July 29-31 last year against Cleveland. Athletics' third baseman Eric Chavez sat out with an injured left hand, while Tejada went 2-for-3 and is batting .208, the first time he has been above .200 since April 14. Lefty throwing Ted Lilly will take the mound for the A's on Tuesday in Detroit as he tries to record his third victory of the season. He went just 3 1/3 innings in his most recent outing, giving up five earned runs on eight hits in a loss against Chicago. Lilly (2-2) will be making just his third career start against the Tigers. He has a record of 0-1 against Detroit and an ERA of 5.91, while striking out six batters in 10 2/3 innings of work.
