Minnesota Twins to a 9-8 victory over the
Boston Red Sox in the finale of a three-game series at the Metrodome on Sunday.
Jones has now hit safely in his last six games and is 14-for-25 during that stretch, including 10 runs scored and seven RBI.
Luis Rivas added three hits, two runs scored and an RBI for the Twins, who nearly blew an 8-0 lead and won two of three games in the series.
Minnesota, which also captured two of three last weekend in Boston, has now won 10 of its last 12 contests.
Brad Radke (4-3) won his third straight start, despite allowing five runs on 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings.
LaTroy Hawkins gave up a run in 1 2/3 innings and Eddie Guardado worked in and out of trouble in the ninth to notch his eighth save of the season.
The Twins will start a four-game series against the Royals tonight at the Metrodome. Taking the hill for Minnesota this evening is Joe Mays, who has failed to earn a decision in each of his last two starts. On the year, Mays is 3-2 with a 6.18 ERA in seven starts.
Most recently, the righthander lasted just 3 2/3 frames against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Wednesday. He allowed six runs on nine hits, while walking one and striking out none.
Mays is 3-3 with a 4.57 ERA in 12 appearances -- eight starts -- against the Royals in his career.
