Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - The New York Mets placed shortstop Rey Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list with a thumb injury. The 35-year-old Sanchez was hurt while sliding into second base during a 4-2 win over the San Diego Padres on Saturday. The move is retroactive to May 10. Sanchez is batting just .196 with six RBI and seven runs scored this season. He was also the subject of heavy criticism after reportedly receiving a haircut in the clubhouse during a game earlier this month. New York recalled infielder Marco Scutaro from Triple-A Norfolk.
