Minneapolis, MN (My Sportsbook) - Minnesota Twins designated hitter Matthew LeCroy left Wednesday's game against Kansas City and was taken to the hospital after being hit in the face by a pitch from Royals hurler Runelvys Hernandez. LeCroy led off the fourth inning and was struck in the helmet by an 0-2 pitch from Hernandez. The ball ricocheted off his helmet and hit him in the nose. The 27-year-old LeCroy entered the game with a .314 average in 24 games for Minnesota this season. He has five homers and 21 RBI over that span, two numbers that are approaching career-highs for the four-year pro.
