Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - Curt Schilling struck out 14 batters in a two-hit shutout, as the Arizona Diamondbacks blanked the Philadelphia Phillies, 2-0, in the second of a three-game series at Veterans Stadium. Schilling (3-2) walked just one batter en route to his second-straight shutout. The 36-year-old righthander, who shut out Pittsburgh last Friday, earned his first career win against his former team. Alex Cintron finished 2-for-4 with a solo homer for the Diamondbacks, who have won three straight contests. Brett Myers (3-3) was saddled with the loss despite turning in a strong performance. Myers yielded two runs on just four hits while striking out six and walking one in eight innings. Bobby Abreu and David Bell had the only hits as Philadelphia dropped its third straight contest. The Diamondbacks opened the scoring with a run in the third frame. Schilling started things with a one-out single to center and Cintron followed with a base hit over shortstop Jimmy Rollins' head. Carlos Baerga then popped up to third for the second out, but Luis Gonzalez followed with a base hit to drive in Schilling. Arizona extended its lead to 2-0 in the fifth inning on Cintron's first career home run. Cintron stepped to the plate with two outs and nobody on and blasted a high fastball into the stands in right. Myers would retire the next 10 batters before being relieved after eight innings. Bell notched the Phillies' first hit of the game when he blooped a double to lead off the third. He then moved to third on Ricky Ledee's groundout to first. However, Schilling sent Myers down swinging and Rollins flied out to right to end the inning. Philadelphia's only other hit would be Abreu's single in the fifth inning.
