(My Sportsbook) - The Texas Rangers' offense finally cooled down on Wednesday, as they lost 7-1 to the Boston Red Sox in the middle contest of a three-game set at Fenway Park. Carl Everett drove in the lone run for the Rangers, who have lost five of their last six outings. Texas is just 3-9 this month. Joaquin Benoit (1-1) took the loss after he yielded three runs on three hits in 4 1/3 innings. Benoit started the game off with control problems, walking four of the first six batters he faced. He would settle down and walk just one of the last 14 he pitched to in the loss. Texas first basemen Mark Teixeira (wrist) left in the eighth inning after being hit with a pitch. Ruben Sierra pinch ran for Teixeira and replaced him in the lineup. Texas will send righthander and newly acquired Alan Benes to the mound today against the Red Sox. In his first outing with Texas, Benes went just 3 1/3 innings after allowing four earned runs on six hits in a losing effort. Benes (0-1) had pitched his entire career in the National League as a member of both the Cardinals and most recently the Cubs. He will be making the first start of his career against Boston today.
