Sandy Alomar Jr. knocked in the go-ahead run and Jose Valentin drove in two during a four-run seventh for the White Sox. Chicago, which won back-to-back contests for the first time since April 25-26 against Minnesota, captured the opener of the series, 1-0, on Tuesday. Tom Gordon (2-2) earned the win for his 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief. He allowed just one hit in the victory and finished with two strikeouts. Dan Wright started for Chicago and pitched 6 1/3 solid innings in just his second start of the season. Wright, who had missed the season's first month with a strained ligament in his right elbow, gave up just one run and six hits while striking out four. The White Sox have now won three of their last four contests and outhit the Orioles by an 11-7 margin. Bartolo Colon gets the call for the White Sox today, as he tries to improve on his 3-3 record this season. He came away with a victory the last time he took to the mound, going eight innings and allowing three earned runs, while striking out four. Colon is making his 11th career start against the Orioles today and will try to improve on his 5-3 record and 3.00 ERA against them. He lost his only start against Baltimore this season, going six innings and allowing five earned runs.
