(My Sportsbook) - The Montreal Expos go for their fourth straight victory on their seven-game road trip as they open a four-game set against the Colorado Rockies tonight at Coors Field. The Expos have been spectacular recently, winning seven of their last nine contests, including a three-game sweep of the NL West-leading Giants in San Francisco. The Expos have won six of their last eight series and have a record of 16-8 in those eight sets. On Wednesday, Claudio Vargas pitched into the ninth for his first major league win to lead Montreal to a 6-3 victory over San Francisco in the finale of a three-game series at Pacific Bell Park. Ron Calloway and Jeff Liefer both had two hits and homered for Montreal, which swept a series for the fifth time this season. Vladimir Guerrero added a two-run hit during Montreal's five-run, seventh-inning rally. It marked the first time since June 9-11, 1995 that the Expos swept a three- game set in San Francisco. Montreal is 10 games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 1996 season when it finished 88-74. Javier Vazquez takes his excellent control to the mound tonight for Montreal, as the righthander will make his ninth start of the season. Vazquez has fanned a major league-leading 69 batters while walking only eight, but the 26-year- old doesn't have a victory (0-1) in his last three starts. He was shelled for 11 hits and five runs in 6 1/3 innings last Saturday against Los Angeles. Vazquez has only one career win over Colorado (1-2) and that came on August 13, 1999 at Coors Field. The Expos are 22-7 when hitting at least one home run in a game, but 3-8 without a round-tripper in a contest.
