(My Sportsbook) - After salvaging the final of three games against Atlanta on Wednesday, the Dodgers will get back to action on Friday as they begin a three-game set at home against Florida. Kevin Brown threw seven strong innings yesterday to record his fourth win of the season as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Braves, 5-1, in the finale of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium. Brown (4-1) defeated Greg Maddux in a battle of two aces. He gave up just five hits and one run, the fourth consecutive start that he has surrendered just one earned run. Brown also stuck out seven, walked only two and did not allow an extra base hit in the contest. Fred McGriff homered and Shawn Green knocked in a pair of runs for the Dodgers, who had lost three of their last four. McGriff now has 484 career home runs. Although Green was effective on Wednesday, he has driven in only 20 runs in 41 games. With the victory, Los Angeles pulled to within five games of San Francisco in the NL West. The Dodgers have allowed only 131 runs this season, the fewest in the majors. On a down note, the 152 runs scored by Los Angeles marks the second fewest in the National League.
