Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - Michael Jordan filed a lawsuit on Wednesday alleging that a woman he admitted to having a relationship with tried to extort $5 million from him to keep quiet. Jordan, who came out of retirement last season to play with the Washington Wizards, had the relationship more than 10 years ago while he was a member of the Chicago Bulls. He admitted to paying the woman $250,000 when she threatened to publicly expose the relationship, but never agreed to pay more than that. Jordan's lawyer, Frederick Sperling, refused to acknowledge the nature of the relationship, and did not reveal whether the allegations were taken to the police. The 39-year-old Jordan has been married to his wife, Juanita, for more than 12 years. Juanita Jordan filed for divorce last January, but withdrew the case one month later as the couple attempted reconciliation. Jordan made his preseason debut Monday and finished with eight points in 15 minutes in the Washington Wizards' 96-73 win over the Denver Nuggets. The five-time MVP averaged 22.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 60 games last season with the Wizards.
