(My Sportsbook) - The St. Louis Cardinals try for their third straight win today when they continue their four-game set against the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium. In the series-opener on Friday, J.D. Drew went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored to lead St. Louis to a 7-4 win. Fernando Vina finished 3- for-3 with three RBI and two runs for the Cardinals. Woody Williams picked up the victory for the Cardinals, who have won two straight and just three of their last 10 games. Williams (5-0) hurled eight innings and allowed four runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Cal Eldred worked the ninth for his second save of the season. Eldred posted his first career save in Thursday's victory over Cincinnati. St. Louis will give the ball today to 30-year-old righthander Brett Tomko, who is 2-2 on the season with a 4.25 ERA. After evening his record with a brilliant complete-game win over the Florida Marlins back on April 25, the veteran has posted back-to-back no-decisions. In his last start Tomko allowed four runs on eight hits over eight innings, but did not factor in the decision of his team's 6-5 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Tomko has faced the Cubs six times in his career - five starts - and is 1-4 against them with a 5.22 ERA. These squads split a pair of meetings at Wrigley Field last weekend with the finale of the set being rained out. The Cardinals are 14-7 against the Cubs since the start of the 2002 campaign.
