New York, NY (My Sportsbook) -
Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe,
Buffalo Bills cornerback Nate Clements, and
Cleveland Browns kick returner Andre Davis have been named the Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for the seventh week of the NFL season.
Sharpe won his second Offensive Player of the Week award, after he caught 12 passes for a career-high 214 yards with two touchdowns in Denver's 37-34 overtime win against Kansas City. He had an 82-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter which was his longest career touchdown in the regular season.
Sharpe broke Jackie Smith's 34-year old record of 212 yards for most receiving yards in a game by a tight end. The 13-year NFL veteran also set a Broncos' team record for most receiving yards in a single game surpassing Lional Taylor.
Clements helped lead Buffalo to a 23-10 upset win over Miami on Sunday. The cornerback had three interceptions, including a 29-yard return for a touchdown, and he also added four tackles in the win. He was the first Bill this season to get an interception, and now has six in his two-year career.
The cornerback tied a team record held by seven others with the three interceptions, which was most recently done by safety Mark Kelso in 1992. He was also one interception short of the NFL record which is shared by 18 players.
Clements won the award for the first time in his career, and he marks the fourth different Bill to win it this year joining Drew Bledsoe, Mike Hollis, and Travis Henry.
Davis won the special teams player award for the first time after he returned four kickoffs for 168 yards, and added a 95-yard touchdown return, as the Browns defeated the Houston Texans, 34-17, on Sunday. The rookie gave the Browns the lead on his kick return in the third quarter after Houston had just scored to get a 14-10 advantage.
Davis became the fourth rookie in team history to return a kick for a score, and is the first one since Carl Ward in 1967.
Other nominees for Offensive Players of the Week included Henry, Priest Holmes, Tommy Maddox, and Chad Pennington. Brent Alexander received nominations for Defensive Player of the Week, while Keith Burns, Hollis, and Brian Moorman received nominations as the Special Teams Player of the Week.
