(My Sportsbook) - Mike Maroth was tagged for six runs on eight hits in five innings of a 6-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. Maroth (0-9) became the first Tigers' starter since Ted Gray in 1953 to start the season 0-9. Bobby Higginson hit a two-run homer for Detroit. Taking the hill for the Tigers in tonight's opening game of a four-game set with the Cleveland Indians is Gary Knotts, who is 1-3 with a 4.19 ERA in seven starts this season. In his last outing on Wednesday, Knotts pitched well, surrendering just one run on five hits over seven innings, but did not receive a decision in the Tigers 2-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics. He struck out two and walked one. Knotts has never faced the Indians in his major league career. Catchers Matt Walbeck is in a 1-for-22 slide. He is hitting .095 this season.
