=== Boston Red Sox Team Report - May 21 === (My Sportsbook) - David Ortiz keyed a five-run seventh inning with a two-run double, as the Boston Red Sox rallied for a 10-7 victory over the New York Yankees in the second of a three-game series at Fenway Park. Nomar Garciaparra also drove in two runs for the Red Sox, who bounced back from a 7-3 loss in Monday's series-opener to again pull into a tie for first place with New York in the AL East. The Red Sox were scheduled to send Pedro Martinez to the mound on Tuesday, but the ace righthander did not start because of a strained right lat muscle. He was hurt while throwing in the outfield on Monday and an MRI exam determined only a minor strain. The Red Sox said he is day-to-day. Garciaparra was 2-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 21 games, the longest in the majors this season. Anaheim's Tim Salmon had a 20-game hit streak. Jason Varitek hit a two-run homer for Boston, while Johnny Damon stroked two hits, drove in a run and scored once in the victory. Alan Embree (3-1) got the win after throwing an inning of scoreless relief and Brandon Lyon struck out the side in the ninth for his sixth save of the season. Getting the ball for the Red Sox tonight will be Tim Wakefield, who is 4-1 with a 4.59 ERA in 10 appearances this season. In his last outing on Friday, Wakefield allowed three runs on six hits over six innings of a 6-5 setback to the Anaheim Angels. He struck out six and walked two in receiving a no decision. Wakefield is 4-6 with a 5.42 ERA in nine career starts against the Yankees. Before Tuesday's game, the Red Sox purchased the contract of pitcher Rudy Seanez from Pawtucket and optioned pitcher Jason Shiell to Pawtucket.
