=== Minnesota Twins Team Report - May 22 === (My Sportsbook) - The Minnesota Twins try to make it two wins in a row this afternoon when they play the rubber match of their three-game series against the Oakland Athletics at the Coliseum. On Wednesday, Dustan Mohr's RBI single capped a two-run eighth inning, as the Twins rallied to defeat the A's, 4-3, in the second game of the set. Mohr finished 3-for-4, while teammate Torii Hunter belted a two-run homer. Matt LeCroy was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Minnesota, which has won six of its last eight games and 16 of its last 21. LaTroy Hawkins (4-0) tossed a perfect seventh inning with one strikeout to earn the win. J.C. Romero worked the eighth and Eddie Guardado recorded the final three outs for his 11th save in as many opportunities this season. Minnesota starting pitcher Kenny Rogers was charged with three runs on nine hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out three. Rogers has not lost at the Coliseum since August 7, 1994, when he was a member of Texas. Since that setback, he is 17-0 in 34 games, including 33 starts. The stretch includes going 15-0 in 26 home contests for the Athletics from 1998-99. Today, Joe Mays will take the hill for the Twins and is 4-3 on the season with a 5.26 ERA. The 27-year-old righthander is coming off a win in his last start, as he limited the Chicago White Sox to one run on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. The Twins are 4-1 in his last five starts. Mays is 2-3 lifetime against the A's with a 3.83 ERA in nine appearances, including six starts. Yesterday's win by the Twins allowed them to move into first place in the AL Central, a half game ahead of the Royals.
