=== Montreal Expos Team Report - May 23 ===
(My Sportsbook) - The Montreal Expos completed the three-game sweep of the Florida Marlins last night by a score of 8-2. The Expos will now host the Philadelphia Phillies in a three-game set at Olympic Stadium which begins tonight.
The Expos compiled 16 doubles against the Marlins in the three-game set.
Zach Day will toe the rubber for the Expos this evening. Day is 3-0 over his last seven outings. He was actually ejected from his last start, being thrown out in the bottom of the third inning at Coors Field on Saturday for an odd matter. He developed a blister on his right middle finger in the first two innings and used glue to cover it up.
The 24-year-old righthander then went to the mound for the third inning, but was automatically ejected because he had a foreign substance on his finger. This will be Day's first career start against the Phillies. He has faced Philadelphia twice out of the bullpen, allowing a run in one-third of an inning combined in those outings.
Day has allowed only two homers in 54 2/3 innings this season.
Montreal is 13 games above .500 for the first time since concluding the 1996 season with an 88-74 record.
Last night, Endy Chavez drove in a career-high three runs and Livan Hernandez tossed a complete game, as Montreal defeated Florida, 8-2, in the final game of a three-game set at Olympic Stadium.
Hernandez (4-2) allowed just two runs on seven hits, while striking out four and walking one for the Expos, who recorded their first-ever home sweep of Florida.
Jamey Carroll had two RBI, while Wil Cordero and Jose Macias each collected three hits for Montreal, which has won three straight outings.
